We deal with our minor complaints by using over-the-counter medicines and our more complicated symptoms by taking medicines prescribed by the physician.A very good example of medicine that most of us use to take for minor complaints such as mild fever and headache in our daily life is penadol.
Since the day we step into this world which is full of information and competitions, we are somehow or rather taking medications as a part of our life.A simple illustration would be starting from our first baby shot till all other vaccines that we receive including HepatitisB, Rotavirus, Diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTaP), Haemophilus influenzae Type b (Hib), Pneumococcal (PCV), Inactivated polio (IPV), Influenza (flu), Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis A and Meningococcal.Immunizations are one of the best ways to avoid serious diseases caused by some viruses or bacteria. But, in order for vaccines to be most effective, everyone needs to get their immunizations.
In my life I am also once upon a time was depending on some medications.Actually asthma can be called as the family diseases of mine, starting from my grandparents to my parents till to me and my brothers, we still haven't get rid of this suffocating disease. Asthma is a chronic (lifelong) disease that involves inflammation of the airways superimposed with recurrent episodes of decreased airflow, mucus production, and cough. Choosing the proper asthma drug is crucial in avoiding asthma attacks and living an active life.Common symptoms of asthma include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness and coughing. Symptoms are often worse at night or in the early morning, or in response to exercise or cold air. Some people with asthma only rarely experience symptoms, usually in response to triggers, where as other may have marked persistent airflow obstruction..My parents often said that I am the lucky one in the family because I am a asthmatic patients but then mine is still under control which means I am not using the inhaling pumps and I just under medication in tablet form, not like my other two younger brothers who is using pumps which is very uncomfortable and life-threatening.
The days that I used to suffer with this disease and medications is still in my vision. In that very young age with this problem I used to suffer a lot by not eating my favorite food such as ice-creams and cold drinks. My mom used control me in this things until my asthmatic level come into a control because she used to fear that someday I also have to use inhalation pumps like my brother's too.Treatment with asthma medication focuses on controlling inflammation and preventing chronic symptoms such as coughing or breathlessness at night, in the early morning, or after exertion (long-term control medications) and also easing asthma attacks when they occur (quick-relief asthma medication). There are two general types of asthma medication which can give you long-term control or quick relief of symptoms.
- Anti-inflammatory drugs. This is the most important type of therapy for most people with asthma because these asthma medications prevent asthma attacks on an ongoing basis. Steroids, also called "corticosteroids," are an important type of anti-inflammatory medication for people suffering from asthma. These asthma drugs reduce swelling and mucus production in the airways. As a result, airways are less sensitive and less likely to react to triggers.
- Bronchodilators. These asthma medications relieve the symptoms of asthma by relaxing the muscle bands that tighten around the airways. This action rapidly opens the airways, letting more air come in and out of the lungs. As a result, breathing improves. Bronchodilators also help clear mucus from the lungs. As the airways open, the mucus moves more freely and can be coughed out more easily.
These asthma drugs can be administered in different ways. Successful treatment should allow to live an active and normal life. If asthma symptoms are not controlled, contacting doctor for advice and look at a different asthma medication that may work better is a better choice and that is what my parents used to do to us when we was suffering.Asthma basically can be cured but can be kept under control by practicing a healthy life-style.That is what me and my family used to do in order to lead a good life. Some of the long-term control asthma medications include:
- Corticosteroids (The inhaled form is the anti-inflammatory drug of choice for persistent asthma.)
- Mast cell stabilizers (anti-inflammatory drugs)
- Long acting beta-agonists (bronchodilators often used along with an anti-inflammatory drug)
- Theophylline (a bronchodilator used along with an anti-inflammatory drug to prevent nighttime symptoms)
- Leukotriene modifiers (an alternative to steroids and mast cell stabilizers)
- Xolair (an injectable asthma medication used when inhaled steroids for asthma failed to control asthma symptoms in people with moderate to severe asthma who also have allergies)
This is basically story about me and drugs or medication involved in my life.Read and have some knowledge about asthma disease.Thank u!!!!!This is the link of video regarding asthma have a look too...
